Holiday-themed books, as well as hundreds of new books added before Thanksgiving break, were featured on display. Throughout the month, lots of classes visited the Library for book check out. They are invaluable assets to the Library program and to Durham Middle. Harper treated them to festive holiday goody bags as a thanks for their dedication and commitment. In addition to their daily support in running the library in the mornings before school, Library Ambassadors also assisted with the Library’s holiday-themed bulletin board off the school’s main hallway, and they offered major help in decorating the Library for the holiday season and ultimately packing it all up on the last days of school before the break.
Baker held a special training for Library Ambassadors during Friday’s Wildcat Blocks. DeRoche for challenging her students to write creatively in Science, and what better place to to do that than in the Durham Library?Īlso in December, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Lunch Bunch Book Clubs gathered each Tuesday during lunch to discuss their selected books and celebrated the holidays with a festive, fun book exchange on the final gathering of 2021. Learning was obvious as students inquired about the correct use of Science terminology to Mrs. DeRoche’s 8th grade Science students as students wrote science fiction narratives that featured embedment of Science vocabulary as a mid-year review. There’s nothing more engaging than Breakout EDU, and math in the Library is AWESOME!
